Introduction
This short tutorial explains how the terms need, demand and supply are used in health economics research. The tutorial is based on a paper by ESHCRU researchers but has been simplified for people with no training in health economics.
There are two parts to the tutorial.
- an animation, which offers definitions of need, demand and supply then explains how these overlap using a simple diagram.
- a short quiz for you to test your understanding of need, demand and supply in healthcare. Your score will be automatically shown at the end of the quiz.
You can adjust the animation voiceover speed and use subtitles if required. You are welcome to watch the animation and take the quiz as often as you like. Thank you for your interest!
Quiz
If you would like to test your knowledge, please try out our short quiz. We recommend you take the quiz after watching the animation. The quiz has 7 questions. Each question describes a fictitious scenario that involves need, demand or supply of health care. For each question, read the description and then click on the area of the diagram that you think best fits the description. You’ll be given your score at the end of the quiz. In some cases, there may be two correct answers to the same question.
You’ll be given your score at the end of the quiz. Good luck!
